Carrie Singleton was born in Baton Rouge and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She moved to the DFW Metroplex with her family over twenty years ago and proudly calls it her second home. She earned her B.B.A. in Business Management with a minor in Political Science from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Carrie obtained her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida, where her dedication to service was evident through her participation in the Pro Bono Clinic, earning Pro Bono Honors upon graduation.
Licensed in Florida and Texas, Carrie has built a distinguished career in public service as an Assistant Public Defender for over a decade—first with the 20th Judicial Circuit in Florida and currently with Dallas County. In every role, Carrie has demonstrated a deep commitment to fairness and integrity, reducing the docket she inherits and ensuring that every case receives the attention and care it deserves. Her extensive courtroom experience, combined with her strong sense of justice, makes her exceptionally prepared to serve as a fair and balanced judge.
Carrie’s commitment to justice extends beyond the courtroom and into the community of Dallas. She has supported the homeless through her church’s Hydration Ministry. She has volunteered with criminal justice programs and served as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, helping Dallas County citizens exercise their right to vote. Carrie also participated in the Dallas County Expunction Exposition, assisting eligible citizens in clearing their criminal records to help them rebuild their lives. As a board member of The SDK Scholarship Foundation, she works to expand access to education by providing financial assistance to students.
Carrie’s leadership is grounded in service and integrity. She is an active member of The Dallas Project Church, where she supports the Young Adult and Hospitality Ministries. A sports enthusiast and a dedicated athlete, Carrie finds balance through fitness—whether it’s a workout at Orangetheory Fitness or tackling a 5K. Her strength and resilience, in and out of the courtroom, reflect her unwavering commitment to justice and the community she serves.
